In vitro antioxidant activity of Alcoholic & Aqeuous root extract of Tricosanthes tricuspidata was determined by DPPH free radical scavenging assay. Ascorbic acid & BHT were used as a standard. All the analysis were made with the use of U.V. visible spectrophotometer (Systronic).The alcohol & aqueous root extract of Tricosanthes tricuspidata had shown very significant DPPH (1,1 diphenyl Picryl hydrazyl) free radical scavenging activity when compared with standard antioxidants. The results shows that aqueous extract is having more antioxidant properties as compared to alcohol extract , However the results concluded that both the extract have potential source of antioxidants of natural origin.
